THE LEARNING PATH AT PLAYTIME

Playtime Guides You Through Each Level of Your Child Journey

At Playtime Swim School, our Swim Instructors are swim experts who embody our Core values while implementing our Philosophy. We value the energy, love, and compassion that they instill in our students. We teach lifesaving skills as well as all 4 competitive strokes while having fun. Throughout each swim level, our Swim Instructor will guide your child every step of the way to achieve their goals.

In our Safety First class, we prioritize safety above all else. Our expert instructors work with each child to help them feel comfortable and confident in the water while teaching vital life-saving skills. Focus Skills:

  • Safe Entry/Exit: Learning how to get in and out of the pool safely.
  • Monkey Crawl: Moving along the wall independently.
  • Water Confidence: Building the basics of movement and safety awareness.

Designed for our beginning swimmers, the Pink Level focuses on comfort and independence. Swimmers will learn the essential building blocks of swimming in a supportive environment. Focus Skills:

  • Floating: Mastering floating on both the front and back.
  • Bubbles: Comfortable breath control and blowing bubbles.
  • Back Kicking: Pushing off the wall and kicking on the back for 5 feet (unaided).

Building on the confidence gained in Pink Level, the Red Level transitions swimmers to face-down movement. Swimmers will learn to trust their buoyancy while moving forward. Focus Skills:

  • Front Kicking: Kicking on the front with face in the water.
  • Streamline Push: Pushing off the wall on the front.
  • Independence: Moving a distance of 5 feet without assistance.

In the Orange Level, swimmers begin to develop true backstroke technique. This level focuses on coordination and body position on the back. Focus Skills:

  • Backstroke Arms: Adding arm movements to the back kick.
  • Streamline (Back): Pushing off the wall on the back in a tight streamline.
  • Distance: Swimming 10 feet on the back with proper form.

The Green Level transforms basic skills into the freestyle stroke. Swimmers learn to coordinate their arms with their kick for smooth forward motion. Focus Skills:

  • Freestyle Arms: Adding "big arms" to the flutter kick.
  • Streamline (Front): Strong push-offs from the wall.
  • Technique: Swimming 10 feet while maintaining proper horizontal balance.

Blue Level swimmers are ready for advanced transitions and longer distances. This class bridges the gap between learning to swim and swimming laps. Focus Skills:

  • Flip Turns: Mastering both freestyle and backstroke flip turns.
  • Endurance: Swimming comfortably across the entire pool.
  • Refinement: Polishing freestyle and backstroke techniques.

This level introduces the technical breaststroke. Swimmers will focus on the unique timing and rhythm required for this stroke. Focus Skills:

  • Breaststroke Kick: Mastering the "frog kick."
  • Pull & Glide: Learning the proper pull-breathe-kick-glide timing.
  • Turns: Executing proper pull-outs and open turns.

For swimmers who have mastered the basics, Purple Level introduces the challenging Butterfly stroke. This class focuses on power, rhythm, and strength. Focus Skills:

  • Butterfly Arms: Learning the chest press and powerful arm pull.
  • Dolphin Kick: Mastering the undulating body movement.
  • Endurance: Building speed and stamina across all strokes.

Prerequisite: Mastery of all 4 strokes. This is the ultimate milestone! Swimmers in the Gold Level demonstrate their complete skillset before graduating from the program. Graduation Requirements:

  • 4-Stroke Mastery: Swim across the pool and back in Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke, and Butterfly.
  • Technical Proficiency: Demonstrate proper starts, turns, and streamlines for every stroke.
  • Celebration: Parents are invited to the pool deck to capture photos and videos of this major achievement!

It's never too late to introduce your little one to the water! A wonderful way for parents to bond with their child in a fun environment to ensure safety and self-help strategies.

Special Needs is near and dear to our hearts here at Playtime Swim School. Having a son with Autism opened up our eyes to a different world. As our journey came and still continues today, we found that it is very hard to find activities that also accommodate Special Needs with the proper training under one roof. Having a father who is a USA Swim Coach allowed our son to have the opportunity to explore the water. Therefore, we would love for your child to have this same experience here with us at Playtime Swim School.

Looking for a more personalized 1:1 experience that can help both children and adults. Our Private Swim Lessons are available for all ages and skill levels, and are a great option to increase comfortability and skills in the water.
